- I am sorry that I had to miss the 45th Reunion. I did, indeed, want to be there, but my wife, Lucy, and I were obligated (delightedly) to baby-sit for our twin grandsons while their parents (our daughter and her husband) looked for a house in Montgomery. I also am deeply saddened by the loss of so many of our classmates and they and their families will remain in our prayers.
I just found this web page and have very recently been in contact with Reynalds Haas. I would much enjoy corresponding with any who would like to bring me up to date on what you have been doing over these last 46 years. I am definitely planning to attend our 50th reunion. --Jack |

- Dear Fellow Classmates: By now all are aware of Marv's passing. I am trying to figure out a way to change our web site over to me so it can continue. My son is the one who will make it happen, hopefully soon. I didn't put too many e-mail addresses into my address book thinking it was unnecessary. Please keep Betty Moore Little in your prayers as she struggles through radiation for throat cancer. Because she does not have a computer, and is unable to talk at present. if you wish to send her a card her address is: 203 Adams St. Mobile, AL 36602. Hope all are doing well..Keep checking for our web site.

- Once again the class of '58 has come together for a reason.
This time is was to plant the tree in Marvin's memory and unvail the plaque marking it. Fr. Sheilds joined us in the dedication in front of the main entrance to the McGill building. There were close to 30 class members in attendance followed by dinner at Ruby Tuesday on Dauphin St. Betsy came and is now a certified (honorary) member of the class of '58. We will continue with the web site as is until I figure out how to go it alone, that is with the assistance of everyone else that knows anything about computers. In the meantime, stay tuned. |

- On October 8 we are going to plant a tree and place a marker dedicated to the memory of Marvin Uphaus on the McGill-Toolen Campus (Old Shell Road side) at 5:00 p.m. All members of the Class of 1958 are invited to attend this ceremony.
It has been suggested that we go to Ruby Tuesday on Dauphin Street for dinner after the ceremony.
Betsy will be with us; and I hope all that can't be with us in person will be with us in spirit in memory of Marvin.
If anyone wants to send any comments to me I will be happy to share them with those at the ceremony. |

- I can never begin to thank you all for the wonderful support. This is why Marvin loves you so much. I am so thankful for the time he had with you at the reunion. He loved doing the web page. He would constantly call me in to see the latest addition. He was so proud! After nearly a month, the hole in my life is still so huge, but I am being wrapped in a warm blanket of memories. You are such a part of this. I love you all and look forward to being a part of the class of '58 for a long time. Betsy

- Marvin was a true friend and a great leader as evidenced by this web site. Our class wanted to do something special to remember Marvin so we have asked and have been given the ok to plant a tree with a memorial marker on the McGill-Toolen campus. Several people have sent contributions to me to cover the cost of this project. We will keep the class posted as to the time this will take place. If anyone wishes to make a contribution, they can sent a check made payable to MTM Class of '58 c/o Tommy Magruder 260 Mayflower Street Mobile, AL 36609.

- It was so great to see so many from the class of 58 at Marvin's services on Aug.27. Both Tommy Magruder and Kitty Guy McAleer spoke at the request of Betsy. They did an outstanding job even though it was probably one of the hardest things they both have ever done. Great job. The pictures of Marvin on display were wonderful.
The hardest part for me was the "missing man" formation fly over at the grave site. Guess as a pilots wife I've seen too many of those, but it was very impressive and such a wonderful thing for his friends to do. I'm sure you all know that we've asked Betsy to be a permanent part of the Class of 58's doings from now on and she's said yes. Again thanks to everyone for a wonderful showing from our class. 58 IS GREAT. WENDY |

- The word of Marv's death came as a great shock. Nancy and I have been chatting with him via email since the 45th. He had us order something for Betsy's birthday from a friend in Cairo. That mission was just completed last month.
Can someone tell me who the other three are since May? Many thanks in advance, and may Marv rest in eternal peace.... |

How we carry on now will be a testament to him and therefore certain it will be done well. He delighted in designing our web site and getting it up and running. Thank you MARV. We will miss you terribably.

- The loss of a true friend cannot be adequately expressed in words. Marvin was the backbone of the Reunion Committee and maintained the mailing list for us. This page will not continue unless someone in the class steps forward and volunteers to be the webmaster. We have now had five classmates die since the last reunion. Life is so precious and cannot be taken for granted. Those that are gone will not be forgotten but will always remain a part of the Classs of '58. The Reunion Committee has discussed the possibility of getting together next year to mark the 50th anniversary of our graduation from grammar school. How do the rest of you feel about that idea?

- The search engines have finally picked up our site. You can now find our site by using Google, Altavista, Lycos, AlltheWeb, Yahoo, AOL and perhaps others. Putting McGill, Toolen, Mercy, Class of '58, reunion or any combination will get you to our MTM Class of '58 web site. So tell your classmates that if they forget the address of the web site, just do a search for us and we can be found.
I have been excited that the web site has generated so much interest and enthusiasm. I enjoyed putting it together and it will continue to be a fun project to keep it running.
Stay in touch and stay tuned!

Nancy and I really enjoyed the weekend, and we hope to be living in Fairhope prior to the 50th so we won't have to fly 1,000 miles to be there! But we have had the easy part---just jumping on a plane and into a rental car; you guys have done all the work, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart! And Marv, this webpage is a great great idea! Thanks, george

I have said so many times, "We Mobilians really know how to party!"
In addition to visiting with so many classmates that I have seen several times since graduation, it was very special seeing Barbara Mayes and Elaine Rehm for the first time in 40 years!
Brett and I are already looking forward to the 50th.

Would love to hear from some of you so give me a call or come visit. I still work for NASA contractor, United Space Alliance as a manager of software programmers supporting the Mission Control Center. Faye is still a microbiology lab tech at HCA Clear Lake Hospital.
